Happy Tails: 2009 Adoptions
Pearl: Adopted
![]() ![]() 7/27/2009: Hey! It's me, Pearl! I've been in my foster home for about 8 months now and I am ready to have a forever family. I am about 3 years old and the sweetest girl you will ever meet. I get so excited and wiggly when you get home from work and I absolutely love to give kisses. I'm not much of a morning girl, I enjoy sleeping in. I also love to lay in the sun and to chew on bones. I've been mistreated in my past so sometimes it takes awhile for me to not be nervous around new people. My foster family is working with me to help me understand that no one will hurt me anymore. Since I have been mistreated I also do not trust other animals and would prefer to be the only animal in my forever home. I do well in my crate and I am housebroken. I also know a few commands. Please come visit me soon! I can't wait to meet you! Love, Pearl. Dane: Adopted Dane is a 3 year old flashy fawn. He is housebroken and crate trained, but he is not always fond of his crate. Dane is a typical boxer boy with lots of energy. He loves to play and run and will need plenty of exercise and stimulation. He enjoys sleeping with you at night and relaxing on the couch. Dane loves kids of all ages, but will need a home without cats or small dogs. Adoption Donation: $225.00 Megan: Adopted Buster: Adopted Buster
is a sweet guy who is about 5 years old. He is housebroken, crate trained, and gets along well with other
dogs. We will post more details and pictures of Buster very soon. Nora: Adopted Nora is a 4 year old brindle girl. I am very docile, walk well on a leash and get along with all dogs. I am a true lover-girl who would be perfectly content to cuddle on the couch with you! Lady: Adopted My name is Lady and I am around 6 years old. I get along great with other dogs and love to sleep in bed with you. I don’t mind my crate either and sometimes I just go sit in it on my own. I do get a little scared of loud noises. I love to give kisses and cuddle with my foster family.
Sadie Marie: Adopted Sadie
Marie is a new girl to the rescue. She is approximately. 2-3 years old. She has been getting along great with all her foster
siblings. We will post more as we learn about her. Ollie: Adopted
Ollie is already enjoying his new life! Kingston: Adopted This BEAUTUFUL
boy is in the process of coming into rescue. We will post more details shortly. Cash: Adopted HEY! My name is Cash. I was born on March 24th, 2009. I am a very cute and energetic boxer boy. I love toys
and to run around chasing my foster siblings. I get along great with people, other dogs and even kitties! I am huge lover.
I am learning basic commands and do well on my lead. I am learning all about crate training. I appear to be house trained.
I am a great boy who is in need of a forever home, is that you? Crosley: Adopted ![]() Crosley is in the process of coming into rescue. More details will be posted soon. Thunder
Diesel: Adopted Diesel is approximately 2 years old and was surrendered to a kill shelter by his owner. He gets along well with other large dogs, both male and female. With a little work on the part of his adoptive family, Diesel should do fine with small dogs or cats. He likes children and would do best in a home with older children. Diesel is fully housetrained and is continuing to work
on his crate training. He is doing much better in his crate, but gets very nervous and prefers not to be
crated. He would do best in where a family member is home a good portion of the day. Diesel is very lovable and
wants to be by your side all the time…he is definetly a cuddler. Carly: Adopted Carly
is one and a half year old boxer girl that is full of energy and loves to play with her foster brothers. She has been spayed
and has all her shots up to date. She is ready to be adopted. She is house trained, crate trained, and now has graduated to
sleeping all night with her foster mom. Carly was previously an outside dog so she is still working on learning her basic
commands. She is a lover. She loves being a part of the family. She has a great personality...and very smart. Slinky: Adopted Thank you to all those families who are generous enough to open their hearts to an older dog. Things look hopeless for Slinky when his original family took him to a local humane society to be euthanized. It just was not Slinky’s time and he was lucky enough to find his way in to rescue. Dogs like Slinky usually live out the remainder of their lives in rescue, never to be adopted. Well, the doggie angels were smiling down on Slinky this past week. Despite his age and physical disabilities, Slinky found his forever family . Slinky will live out the remainder of his life in a safe and loving home.
My name is Slinky and I am a very senior male. I was recently dropped off to be euthanized because my family didn't want to care for a senior dog anymore. Thanks goodness the Humane Society called the rescue to save me. I'm just a good ol' boy wanting to live the rest of my life where I can be loved. I am deaf and blind, but I don't have any other medical issues. Is there a place in your heart for an older guy? Lily: Adopted Update: 9-22-09 Check out my new pics! I've been in rescue for almost a year now. My foster mom says I am such a good, sweet girl. I get along great with all my foster siblings. I am still waiting for you to come adopt me! Hi! My name is Lily. I'm new to the rescue. I was found running around with one of my friends and was pulled by the rescue the day before I was to be euthanized because the shelter was over-crowded. They think I'm about 4 years old. I'm a brindle girl and fairly petite. I'm so quiet sometimes that it's easy to forget that I'm laying right there beside you, which is my favorite place to be. My foster mom has never even heard me bark, although I will wimper a bit to get your attention if I'm in need of a belly rub! My other favorite place is on the back patio where I can just lay in the sunshine! I promise to give you lots of love if you will do the same for me. I also get along great with all my foster siblings too! Sammie Grace:
Adopted
Meet Sammie Grace. She is 18 months old and such a doll! She is very playful, but also very obedient. Won't you give this pretty girl a home of her own? Drago: Adopted Drago
is in the process of coming in to rescue and is approximately 9 months old. We will post more details on Drago very soon. Bristol: Adopted
Hi! My name is Bristol. I am one of Pearl's pups. I was adopted when I was 2 months old, but through no fault of my own had to be returned to the rescue. I am now 10 months old and looking for a forever family again. I am very lovable and full of energy. I am house trained and know a few commands. I am working on leash training. I love to chew on bones and play with toys. I can't wait to have my forever family! Please come meet me. Love, Bristol Molly: Adopted
AKC Certified Canine Good Citizen What is An AKC Canine Good Citizen?
9-2-09 Update: Molly is now 2 years old. Since Molly is not a purebred boxer, no one has shown any serious interest in her. That is why we decided to let her go into a prison training program. She did exceptionally well in the program and they found out she has exceptional hearing. Molly can hear what a lot of other dogs miss. She completed the program with flying colors and earned her American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Certification or CGC. Unfortunately she did not get adopted through their program, and is back in her original foster home. Molly just wants to be loved and petted, sometimes held. She is an exceptional girl and deserves a family of her own.
Nana: Adopted Nana is one of the sweetest BIG girls you will ever meet. She is a boxer/Bull Mastiff mix and is approximately 3-4 years old. Nana is housebroke and crate trained, although she does not need crated. You could definitely trust Nana alone in the house while you are gone. Nana needs to be an only dog. She lives with other dogs in her foster home, but she is constantly reminding the other dogs that she is the BOSS. She likes kitties way too much, so a home without cats is a must. Nana loves her foster brother and sister who are 7 and 9 years old. She willingly tolerates their occasional roughness. They play with her ears and tail, look in her mouth, and use her as a pillow…Nana enjoys every minute. Nana does get excited and jumps at times so a home with kids 6 years and older would be best. Nana likes to play with stuffed squeaky toys, but mostly she likes to be with people….having her belly rubbed and giving KISSES. She listens very well, and will not run away outside as long as she is supervised. Nana is a great dog for the right family and will be a loyal companion for the rest of her life. Adoption Donation:
$175.00
Duke 0909: Adopted Duke is an owner surrender to our rescue. He was surrendered because he played too rough with the yorkie in his home. Despite that, Duke is a very nice boy and very loving. He is housetrained, does well with kids and other dogs. He is a very big boy and will be getting a few pounds off shortly. He is also good with cats. He does like to jump on you a little, so his foster home is working on that. Duke is a dark mahogany color and is about 18 mo. old. Adoption Donation: $225.00 Gino: Adopted Hi my
name is Gino. I am between 2 and 3 years old and am a sweetie! I get along great with others and am looking for a forever
home. Gino is new to the rescue and more will be posted as we learn all about him. Polly:
Adopted AKC Certified Canine Good Citizen
9-2-09 Update: Polly is now 2 years old. Polly is not a purebred boxer, and like her sister Molly, no one has shown any serious interest in her. Polly went into the prison training program with Molly. She too did very well in the program and they found out she has exceptional smelling abilities. She completed the program with flying colors and earned her American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Certification or CGC. We were hopeful someone in search and rescue would be interested in Polly. Unfortunately she did not get adopted through their program, and is back in her original foster home. She is an exceptional girl and deserves a family of her own.
Polly and her sister Molly just came into the rescue program with their purebred
boxer mom. They are beautiful 7 week old boxer mix pups. They are just starting their vetting and will be available for adoption
shortly. They were born under a neighbors building and was brought to the animal shelter a couple days after the mother. From
the size of the nursing mother she had several pups but these 2 little girls were the only ones brought in. The owner was
contacted and decided he didn't want any of them. These 2 little girls are just learning what it is to have human contact
and they are finding it to their liking. Beau
- Terrier Mix Adopted by Foster Family Please contact Sandie@bluegrassboxerrescue.org or call 270-302-7920. You will also need to fill out our on-line adoption application. Beau is approximately 2-3 years old. He is a very handsome small boy who enjoys being cuddled and is very playful. He is learning all about housetraining and is doing very well. He is getting his vetting completed and is looking for a new home. He was discarded by his previous owners because they just didn't want him anymore. He is a quick learner and will make someone a very nice addition to their family. He enjoys the lap or laying beside you. He gets along very well with all other dogs and just wants a playmate. Do you have room in your heart for this little fellow? Desi:
Adopted ![]() Desi is approximately 9 mo to 1 yr old. He has beautiful brindle stripping and a gorgeous black mask with a small white triangle above his nose. He is housetrained and gets along very well with other dogs. Cats are unknown at this time. He loves kids and would love a family with children to play with him. He is learning all about the No Jump and Off commands. He will sit on command and we are still testing him on the other commands. He seems to do rather well on a lead and is not a big puller. We will post more about this beautiful boy as we learn. Toby: Adopted 7/27/2009: Hey! It's me, Toby! I've been in my foster home since Oct 2008. I am waiting ever
so patiently for my new forever home. I love my foster family, but would love even more a family of my own. I am a very good
boy. I get so much attention on walks and at events, but no one ever inquires about me. I get along with all other dogs, but
kitties are unknown. I get very wiggly and excited when I see my leash because that means we are going on an adventure! I
also love naps in the sun. I enjoy the company of other furry friends and would probably do best in a home where I can have
a companion to play with. I very much enjoy my crate and will run and dive into it in the mornings to get my treat. I'm
one of the greatest, sweetest, funniest boys you will ever meet. Come visit me soon! I can't wait to meet you! Love, Toby Adoption Donation: $225.00 Baby aka Kamela - Deaf Mattie: Adopted ![]() Mattie is a new little girl to the rescue program. Mattie is a 4 yr old pure breed Boxer. She is fawn and white and has been spayed. Her DOB is 9/12/05. She is very friendly and gets along well with other dogs and cats. She loves everyone she meets and is laid back. She loves to learn and is very eager to please. She would do great with a family, and even kids if they are an appropriate age. She would do very well with children 10 yrs or older. Since she does get very excited, small children may be too much excitment for her. She loves to run and play and is very good at staying with someone, even off lead. She has a crate and does well in it. She is afraid of loud noise or thunder. She will want to be next to someone if it rains or she hears thunder. She does not destroy anything when she is scared or nervous, but she does shake some. She is very good about sleeping on her bed at night and will stay there. BUT she is more than happy to get in bed or on the couch if invited. She is a great eater and would eat all day if she could. She knows when meal time is and is always very excited to eat. She does best when on a routine and she likes rountine a lot. Reagan: Adopted
![]() Reagan is a 8 month old female. Reagan was adopted before her picture even made it to the website. Morty: Adopted Morty
is very lucky to be in rescue being approximately 10 years old. He was a stray at a high kill shelter,
and old dogs in kill shelters usually never get adopted. A nice volunteer from the shelter offered to sponsor
Morty if we would take him into our rescue. While at the vet being neutered and getting his vaccinations,
we learned Morty is heartworm positive. Because of his age, the vet has recommended not treating Morty
for the heartworm disease. It is evident that Morty has lived a hard life from his numerous scars and pressure
sores. He is also underweight and will need to gain about 10 pounds. Morty is housebroken,
crate trained, and gets along well with other dogs. He is a sweet man and enjoys giving kisses and being
rubbed. Morty is looking for a special person to adopt him and give him what he has always wanted….a
loving forever home. Casey: Adopted
Renamed Deuce Deuce
seems to be adjusting extremly well. He slept the entire way to our house on Saturday and most of the day on Sunday.
His behavior was exceptional! He played with the neigbor's black lab on Sunday and that went great!! We took
him to a doggy obedience class on Monday night. He is just doing so well! Today's rain wore on his patience
because he loves to be in the backyard!! We are so happy with Deuce!! He is a great addition to our family!! Jerry, Wendy and Ian ![]() Casey is a 4 month old brindle boy with his natural tail. He was picked up by animal control as a stray. Casey is beginning his work on potty training and some basic manners. He does well in his crate and with other dogs. Chase: Adopted Meet Chase....This little guy was originally adopted from the rescue, but because he is having issues with the other male dog in the home, he is looking for a new place. Chase is very playful and we think he about 2.5 years old. He absolutely loves to cuddle and be by your side and also loves to play keep-away (from you!) with his toys. He is an extremely smart, yet quirky boy who is sure to bring your family lots of love and laughter. He is housetrained, crate trained, knows his manners and doesn't seem to mind the kitties (he's just a little curious about them) Adoption Donation: $225.00 Rex:
Adopted ![]() Check out me and my new family. I feel like the luckiest dog in the world right now. I loved my foster family, but I am so happy to have a home to call my own. I have everything a dog could ever want, I ever have two nicknames already…Monkey and Camel. My mom spoils me rotten…dad spoils me too ,if there is any spoiling left to do after mom gets done with me. My dad is great too because he likes to wrestle and play rough with me. I get to go on lots of walks, rides in the car, and I get to sleep in bed with mom and dad. I also have two new brothers. Koda is my boxer brother and I hope he enjoys me being around. I am adjusting to my brother Dusty the cat who doesn’t seem to mind me. Most importantly, my new family wanted me in spite of my allergy problems. They will have to give me weekly shots the rest of my life and routinely bathe me, among other things. They were not intimidated by my needs, but rather drawn to be because of my them. Thanks mom and dad for giving me the only thing I have ever wanted…the chance to live a healthy life with a loving family! Love Rex 6/6/09 Update Rex went for his allergy testing this week. It turns out he is highly allergic to 18 environmental allergens, including many varieties of weeds, grasses, trees, and molds. It is clear after this testing, that no amount of antibiotics, anti-fungal medications or restricted diets would ever be able to fully help Rex. Now that we know exactly what Rex is allergic to, we can begin to treat him. Once his blood work is back, an allergy serum will be created that is tailored to Rex’s specific allergies. Rex will start on allergy shots. These shots are just like the ones people take who have severe allergies. If all goes well, Rex will have some relief from his itching very soon. We can’t wait for Rex’s skin to start to heal and repair itself. The cost of all this testing has been expensive, but the biggest expenses are now behind us. Rex will remain on allergy shots for the rest of his life. We will post more updates on Rex as soon as he starts his treatment. 5-12-09 Update Rex is having a hard time getting better. He was an owner surrender to our rescue because of his chronic skin problems. Rex has suffered with severe itching his entire life. We knew it would take some time to determine the cause of Rex’s itching, but we never imagined it would be this difficult. Our vet has tried numerous treatments and diets. Our latest attempt involved taking Rex to see a veterinary allergist. Because of all the itching and scabbing, Rex has secondary bacterial and yeast infections on his skin. Rex is undergoing long term antibiotic treatment and we finally found a food he can tolerate. All this is helping, but is it evident Rex has more than just a food allergy. It is possible he has developed antibiotic resistance and may need an immune-stimulating injection to help his immune system more efficiently fight the infection. Rex may also have Atopy, which is a disease where the immune system reacts abnormally to substances in the environment that are airborne. Common allergens include tree, weed and grass pollens, molds spores, and house dusts, etc. The diagnosis and treatment for Rex will be costly. We feel Rex deserves to live a life free of chronic itching and discomfort. Please consider helping us with your generous donations so we can continue to help Rex. Check back for updates on Rex’s progress. January 2009 My name is Rex and I am 2 years old. I am an owner surrender to the rescue because of my ongoing skin problems. My family could no longer afford my ongoing veterinary expenses. I am currently under veterinary care trying to resolve my skin problems. I am very itchy right now, but my foster mom and the veterinarian are confident I will get better. It will be a little while before I am ready for adoption. I am a really sweet boy, although I was so scared leaving the only family I had ever known. I am adjusting well and enjoying life. I am good with the other dogs in my foster home and I love the kids here too. I am housebroken, but need a little work on crate training. I was not used to being crated in my other home so it is a little adjustment for me. In foster care there are lots of other dogs in the house so I do have to spend some time in my crate. Once adopted I will do okay left alone in the house uncrated. I am a little scared of men at first, but given some time and patience I am fine…I’ve realized that my foster dad is an okay guy. Check back for updates on me. I am looking forward to starting a new life with a loving family and free of any skin problems. Adoption Donation: $225.00 Lazarus
- Adopted Updated pics: 4-28-09 Lazaras is doing very well with his housetraining. He doesn't like his crate still but is left out occassionally and does fine as long as there are no tasty tidbits left on the counter. His ideal home would be someone who can take him with them and someone is home with him like a stay at home mom or retired couple. He plays very well with the other dogs but would do best in a home with other female dogs. Lazaras suffers from no ill effects of his broken leg and runs and plays as hard as the young girls. He is now ready to find his forever home. Updated pics: 3-23-09 3-20-09 Update: Lazaras is healing very well, wanting to play of course with the younger dogs in his foster home. He is learning all about housetraining and doing very well once he was off the predizone. He does not like being crated and wants to be by your side all the time. He is very loveable and has a great need to be petted and loved on or just be by you. He does seem to have some seperation anxiety while crated after spending so much time crated at the vets office. More updates to follow as he progresses. Lazaras was hit by a car and taken to a local vet. Everything was done to try and find his previous owners about fixing his rear leg. Wills Animal Hospital did xrays for the leg which was dangling to see how badly it was broken. No one called to claim this poor boy so we were contacted to see if we had space available and the funds needed to repair the leg. The leg has been repaired with a plate and 10 pins to hold it together. This orthopedic surgery normally runs around $2000.00 plus but thanks to Dr. Bryant at Kentuckiana Animal Hospital for giving us a little break on the cost. We would also like to thank Wills Animal Hospital for the wonderful care he has received and for helping get his surgery. The remainder of the cost took every dime we have in our account, we did not want to see Lazaras loose the leg if it were possible to fix it. We are asking for your help to cover some of the orthopedic surgery expense which will enable us to have other dogs vetted at this time and for Lazaras follow up care. Will you help? Adopted Caesar: Adopted Meet Caesar.
He is a 10 month old beautiful brindle boy. He is house-broken and has a very sweet temperament. Caesar is an owner surrender
to our rescue. He has a little crate anxiety at this time, but his foster mom is working with him. He gets along great with
all of his male and female foster siblings. For a puppy, Caesar is very well behaved. He knows some commands already and will
make an excellent addition to his forever home. Addison-Addy
Adopted by foster mom Addy is approximately 8 months old. She is learning all about housetraining, crate training and seems to have decent manners already. She is a very loving, gentle girl and just loves everything. She will make someone a wonderful addition to their family. She would prefer a home with children who will love and play with her. She gets along very well with all dogs. Alisha Meet Miss Alisha. She is a 4 yr old flashy
girl with natural tail. She is housetrained and crate trained. She is fairly laid back for a boxer.
She is doing very well with a young male boston and a senior female boxer in her new home. We will post more on Alisha
as we learn all about her. Margie: Adopted ![]() Hi! My name is Margie and I am searching for a new forever home. I was found as a stray; it seems my family didn't want me anymore. Margie is still a beauty for an older gal and she's got the energy to prove it. She absolutely loves to play fetch with her ball! I'm a really good girl. I love to cuddle; I am very well-mannered and get along great with all my foster siblings. I don't know what I did to make my previous family not want me anymore. Do you think you could find room in your heart and home for me? I promise to give you a lifetime of love and happiness in return!
Betty
Paige-Adopted Betty is now almost 5 months old. She is doing well in her housetraining and is learning very quickly. She is very smart, loveable and a cuddler. She loves other dogs and people of all ages. She can be a little shy at first but warms up very quickly. She is learning all about walking on lead and doing well. She is also crate trained. She would probably do very well with cats and kids of all ages. She will need to continue with her training to make her an exceptional dog, companion and best friend. Adopted Walter
![]() Hi! My name is Walter. I am a beautiful, petite brindle boy of approximately 2 years old. I get along good with all my foster siblings and am extremely affectionate. Unfortunately, I did test positive for heartworm, so I will have to undergo treatment before I can go to my forever home. I am expected to make a complete recovery. Walter will be available for adoption shortly. Check back soon for updates! Champ Champ is a new boy to the rescue. His is between 2 and 3 years old and fully hearing. He is obedient and gets along with his other foster siblings. We will post more as we learn about him. Tiger 0509-Adopted ![]() Hi, My name is Tiger. I am a classic brindle boy of 6 years old. I am AKC registered but the papers won't mean anything since I am in rescue. I am a great guy if I may say so. You see, I get along well with everything and everyone. I love kids and other dogs, including those other little furry things called kitties. I am housetrained and have great manners. I walk well on a lead and of course like riding in a car with you. Some would say I am near perfect. I will be a great addition to your home. Adopted Atticus: Adopted
My name is Atticus and I am 1-2 years old. I am such a sweet boy and a real lover. I already know some basic obedience…sit, stay, down, and shake. I’m doing great with my potty training and I don’t mind being in my crate. I’m good with kids of all ages and other dogs. When I drink, I like to blow bubbles in the bowl before I take my drink….which is pretty cute. I will do well in almost any home. Please consider being my forever family.
Sable is a reverse brindle (more black than brown) with a very shiney coat. She
was rather wild when she left the pound but is learning to walk on a lead, and sit..with treat encouragement. She is
very loving and plays well with Hope in the back yard. she has never jumped but acts like she would if we didn't
catch her when she gets that..."what is that on the other side of the fence look". She likes to play ball
and is learning to bring it back toyou. She is house trained potty trained although needs supervision because
I don't think she has ever been in the house. She does well in her crate. She is around 12-15
months old and will need a training class to become the excellent family pet I know she can be. She would
be good for someone with older children who can deal with her abundent energy. She is just a loving girl with no manners.
China:
Adopted ![]() 3/4/09 Update: Hello
Potential Adopters-- China spent the night at my house the other night while her foster mom was getting carpet laid. This was the first time I met China and was extremely impressed with her behavior. She is a wonderful, extremely sweet and loving dog. She did not show any aggression towards my foster dogs and played WONDERFULLY with my puppies. She responded well when redirected. She appears to be housetrained. I have nothing negative to say about China. She's playful and fun. Since China is deaf, she will need someone to work with her on sign language for basic commands, but appears very smart and willing to please. Please consider giving China a forever home. Courtney Kruse Lexington Director BlueGrass Boxer Rescue Meet China, she is a deaf girl who will be turning 2 years old later this month. She is use to living outside and is learning what it means to be an inside dog. According to her foster mom, China's crate training is going well and she has only had 2 potty accidents in the house. China also enjoys playing with the other boxer in the home. China will be working on her manners and learning some basic sign language. With a little patience and knowledge, deaf dogs are not that hard to train. They function and adapt in the home the same as hearing dogs. Please consider adding China to your family. Dot-Adopted by Foster Mom Roxie: Adopted Hello, my name is Roxie and I am sooooo sweet. I am between 1-2 years old and a petite little girl of about 40 pounds. I am a little skinny and have a few pounds to gain, but I will always be little. My prior owner chose not to come get me when I turned up at the local shelter. I am so glad to be in rescue where I am safe and have plenty of food to eat. I am so gentle and good with all dogs, large and small….I even like cats. I don’t understand why my prior owner did not appreciate or take care of me. I am good in my crate and I appear to be potty trained. I just need to work on my leash training. I am a fast learner, my foster mom taught me to sit in just a couple minutes. I will fit in great in almost any home. Adopted
Barker-Adopted New Pics Aug 08
New Pics 7-19-08 Barker has a short video appearing on http://www.petfinder.org. Check him out.
Sarge: Adopted
My name is Sarge and I am about 4 years old.
I am so happy to be in rescue. My former owners did not treat my obvious medical issue...mange. They chose
to dump me in a shelter. You can tell by the hair loss on my back that I am very uncomfortable right now. I am undergoing
treatment and should be ready for adoption in a few months. I will make a full recovery and hopefully most of my hair
will re-grow. My foster family is in the process of learning all about me. Check back soon for an update. Riddle: Adopted Hello, my name is Riddle and I am about 10 months old. I am a big boy weighing in at about 70 pounds. A month ago I was living outside at the end of a chain. Yes, during the snow and ice storm we had in January. Thank goodness several caring neighbors called and reported how I was living to animal control. When the nice animal control lady came out to check on me, I was shivering and had no food or water. My one food bowl was the size of a bowl you would use for a cat. She gave me water and I drank it down with lightening speed. My so called dog house was two pieces of plywood leaned together in an A shape. I did have a blanket to lie on, but it was frozen to the ground. When confronted, my owner did not see any problems with how I was living. A few days later and still living in the same conditions, animal control removed me from my home fearing for my safety. Now I am in rescue and my life is great. I have put on weight and the frost bite on my
ears is going away. I am still working on my manners. I am starved for attention and
get really excited when anyone pets me. I am working on my potty training and crate training.
I am doing pretty good with both but still need some more work. I really don’t like going
outside. I guess I’m afraid I will get left out there again. My foster mom has
to walk out in the yard with me so I can go potty. As soon as I am done, I race for the door.
I love playing with the other large female boxers in the house. I don’t really care for the
male dogs, so I will need to go to a home without a male dog. I have not been around small dogs or cats.
Because of my energy level it is best not to try me with them at this time. I still need work on my manners
and basic obedience. My new owner will need to be a strong leader. I have made great
progress in the short time I have been in rescue. With consistent training I will be a great pet and family
member. At this time, I will do best in a home without small children. Shayla: Adopted Meet
Shayla, she is approximately 18-24 months old. She has one of the sweetest little boxer faces you will
ever see. Shayla came into rescue extremely emaciated and scared. She appears to have
lived her life outside and has obviously had puppies in the past…and at such a young age. According
to our vet, she is otherwise healthy and will make a full recovery. Shayla will be a petite girl weighing
in at about 50-55 pounds once she regains all her weight. At this time she appears to get along well with
other dogs. Her foster family is working on her crate and potty training. We will know more about Shayla
very soon. Check back soon for updates and new pictures. Shayla is going to be a beautiful
girl once she regains her weight. Bricks: Adopted
Hi! My name is Bricks. Check out my video at http://www.petfinder.org. I'm the one with the blue collar. I just love playing with Tyson. We're both pretty ichy right now, as you can tell. Don't let my appearance discourage you. I'm going to be a beautiful boy once my fur grows back. It's not my fault I was discarded by my owner. My foster mom is taking great care of me. I feel better already! Bricks is a white check boy found as a stray running around with Tyson. We believe they might be brothers, but are unsure, as the owner(s) never came to claim them. They both have a severe case of Demodex, which is being treated. They will make a full recovery and then be neutered and caught up on shots. We will update their pictures as they recover. The boys are new to rescue, so we don't know much about them yet. We do know they are young, probably less than two years old and are full of energy. They would play with each other all day if you would let them. You can tell they will be beautiful boys when they are healed. Sadie
021809: Adopted Sadie is new to the rescue program. She is about 1.5 to 2 years old. She is fully housetrained and doesn't necessarily need to be crated. She gets along very well with other dogs and even those cute kitty cats. She does very well with kids of all ages and adults. She is a very loving and sweet girl. Adopted Lucky: Adopted ![]() Hi! My name is Lucky and that suits
me just fine because I was so "lucky" that BBR came to my rescue! They think I am about 2 years old. I love tennis
balls! I'm also just as content to rest my head on your lap. Won't you please give me your heart and a forever home?

Hi, I am Franklin and I am 7 years old. I am an all around great boy.
I am housebroke and crate trained, although I don’t need to be crated. I get along great with
all dogs, both large and small. I love to play “boxer style” but also enjoy lounging around
the house. KIDS…I love kids. I like to play rough with the big kids but I can
also be gentle with the little ones. What more could you ask for, I am truly the perfect dog.

Tyson: Adopted
11.3.08 Update: Tyson was recently adopted and returned because he did not get along with the cat in the home. We believe his forever home should not have cats or small dogs. Other than that, Tyson is a sweet boy and will make a good addition to the right home. He is good with kids and other large dogs. He will continue his treatment for Demodex and is improving everyday. During this time, Tyson was also renamed Cash and is responding well to his new name. We will leave him listed as Tyson on the website since we currently have another male named Cash. Here is what his foster mom has to say about him.... "This boxer is the best boxer, he just doesn't get along with small animals such as my cat and I can't get rid of her or else I would keep him. He sleeps with me in my bed at night and is very well behaved. He is good around my 2 year old and other children. He barely barks and is just a sweet lovable guy. He would make a great dog for a good family to adopt. I am going to keep him till you can place him in a good home. I love him and hate that he wants to eat my cat but there is nothing I can do about that." Hi! My name is Tyson. Check out my video at http://www.petfinder.org. I'm the one with the brown collar. Adopted ![]() Rocka B: Adopted
Rocka B is new to the rescue program. He is a beautiful flashy fawn boy of 1-2 years old. He was surrendered to a high kill shelter here in KY. He appears to be house trained, gets along very well with other dogs of both genders. Plays very well with all. He is a big boy with a very sweet temperment. He is not a big jumper and is rather laid back for one so young. He is a true velcro boxer boy, he will follow you everywhere. Not much has been done for him in the obedience area but he is willing to learn. He does hate being crated and we are working on that issue, he has been left uncrated at night and so far hasn't gotten into any mischief. He is extremely loveable and cuddly. He was very scared to go through doorways to come inside the house the first couple days but just follows the others in and out now. He is learning very quickly, except for the crate. He will make someone a wonderful companion. Adopted
Ada: Adopted
Update 7-3-08 There are finally some pictures and even a video of me up on http://www.petfinder.org/. Hello, I am being called Ada which suits me very well being the special lady that I am. I am an older girl who was discarded by a breeder who made lots of money off my puppies and threw me away when I got older. I came into rescue pregnant and no one knew because of the shape I was in, even the vet didn't notice. My foster mom delivered 4 pups a few days later but because of my health and age, they didn't make it. My foster mom gave me a special toy to carry around so I wouldn't be so depressed. I carried the toy for a few weeks like it was my own baby. My foster mom has shown me what love and tenderness is all about and what it means to be a family member. I WANT MY OWN FAMILY! I do very well with all the dogs at my foster moms home. I'm perfectly content to lay in the sun or by your side. I don't cause any trouble; I'll leave that to the younger ones!I am housetrained and mature enough to not have to be crated. I am a very sweet and gentle lady who now wants her own home and family. I will give you all the love you can handle. Can you find a place in your heart and home for an older gal? Love, Ada Adoption Donation: $ None, adoption donation is waived in order for me to find a family of my own
who will love me until the end.
Reese: Adopted ![]() ![]() ![]() Hello! I'm a new girl to the rescue and have been named Reese (after Reese Witherspoon) which is very fitting because I am such a pretty girl. I was found in Jefferson Memorial Forest by some joggers. They think I must have been dropped off because no one ever came forward to claim me. I'm fairly skinny right now, so my foster family is working to fatten me up. I am a very gentle girl, although I do tug a little on the leash when I see something exciting. I like to talk (not bark) to you to get your attention. You can see this in my video at www.Petfinder.com. I've been doing great around my older foster siblings. I ride wonderfully in the car and am just a good girl in general. Won't you please make me a part of your family? I promise not to disappoint you! Adopted Benny: Adopted
Benny is a 2 year old fawn boy. He loves to play and clown around. He is an active boy who loves to go on walks but likes nothing better than to cuddle on the couch with you. He knows sit, shake and is learning to come on command. He is housetrained and crate trained. Just look at this handsome winning face, what a ham. He is fully vetted and waiting on his new family to love him. Dudley:
Adopted
9-2-08 Update: Dudley is a little possessive of his toys and will do best in a home with older children. My name is Dudley and I am 5 or 6 years old. I was scheduled to die at the shelter I was staying at, my foster mom called about me the day before I my life was to end. I was sick and since I’m not a young man anymore no one was interested in me. After a few weeks with my foster family and a visit to the vet, I am 100% again. I am ready to find my forever family who will not abandon me where I will end up in a shelter to die. I am fully housebroken and crate trained…although I don’t really need to be crated. I am good with other large dogs but I haven’t had a chance to see how I am with small dogs. My foster mom’s kids really like me and I enjoy playing with them. They like to play with my ears and my lips and I don’t seem to mind since I enjoy the attention. My favorite thing to do is carry around a rubber squeaky toy. I carry it all day, even when I am not playing with it. Of course I sleep with my squeaky toy too. If I temporarily misplace it, I run around looking until I find where I left it. Do you have room in your home for this gentle giant nicknamed “Dolittle”?
He's a great neutered boy who is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. And a big feller he is at 90lbs. He is up to date on all shots, interceptor, and frontline. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. I have an invisible fence that I don't even use because he is so loyal and minds very well. He walks on a lead very well. I have often taken him hiking and to play fetch in big open areas. He has a lot of puppy in him yet at 20 months old. As anyone who is familiar with boxers he has a enormous heart and is very loyal and eager to please. More will be posted as we learn about Happy Jack.
Hoss: Adopted
Hello Potential Loving Parent, Adoption Donation: None, we are looking for the perfect
home for Hoss to spend the rest in his life in love and comfort.
This beautiful boy was found wondering in a Louisville neighborhood. An ad was run in the local newspaper but no one claimed him. He is a young boy of 2 years or less. Check back for an update as we learn more about this handsome boy. Adopted
Miss Macy is very new to our rescue program. We are still learning about this little 6-7 month old beauty. What we do know is that she walks fairly well on lead and doesn't pull overly much. She will allow her nails to be trimmed quite easily. She was brought into the shelter along with another boxer who has suffered a broken pelvis. The shelter noticed she has swelling along her back. Our vet will be checking this out ASAP. We will be posting updates on Miss Macy as we learn all about her. Please check back for future updates. Adopted
Cash and Kali-Adopted
Cash and Kali are 6 year old brother and sister. They are wanting to stay together if possible. They are looking for a home that will want the both of them. They are fully vetted, spayed and neutered. They have been around children but would prefer a home without toddlers because of their size and playfullness. They are housetrained and crate trained. Please consider giving both a good loving home. We will post more about them as we learn.
