Sherman-Adopted

Update from family 11/06/06:

Sandie,

Sheman is doing great!!!!   I can’t believe how affectionate and obedient he is.  It is truly a great surprise.  He has done very well when unsupervised at the cabin and loves going for long walks in the woods with me.  The kids are really taking to him nicely and him to them.  They play together and get upset because he only like to follow “me” around the house and not them.   Its really quite funny.

I have attached 2 picture of Sherman .  Apparently, he likes to chew up stuffed animals.  He found the only one I have in the house and decide it needed to be chewed.  The second one is what he does to me if I work too long and don’t pay attention to him.  He puts his head right on my mouse hand.  Its quite funny.  Usually, he just lays on his dog bed while I work and takes a nap.

He is apparently a couch dog also.  He wriggles his way on the couch no matter what I do.  Also, he apparently thinks he is small enough to be a lap dog.  He is always trying to get in my lap no matter where I am sitting.  I like it.

Sherman is a large beautiful 5-6 yr old boy who just came into care. He gets along well with non-dominate females but will not tolerate dominate males, doesn't seem to mind the kitties and has the best personality around. He is fully housetrained and can be left out uncrated.  He has perfect manners and an absolutely wonderful disposition.  Sherman has been Heartworm tested twice - the vet recommends since he is such a very low grade positive that he be started on heartworm preventative.  The test kit showed only a very slight variation in tinting and barely visible to the naked eye.

Jax-Adopted

am terribly sorry it has taken me this long to send you all an update but I'm sure you remember Jax- or at least you remember his medical bills!   :)  He has been the most wonderful dog!!!  I can't thank you enough for taking such good care of him while he was in your care.  We are all absolutely in love with him and you can tell, he really appreciates a loving family.  Since in our care he has not had any additional medical issues and has overcome any he had prior.  He is so loving with our 6 year old and follows her everywhere she goes.  We take him to the park or to the tball field almost every weekend and he gets soooo much attention.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that he is doing very well, is very loved and we are so thrilled to have such a wonderful family dog.
Thanks for everything!  Attached are some pics...

Jax4.jpg    Jax6.jpg

Jax5.jpgUPDATE: 8-23-06 Jax has been released from his 2 week stay in the hospital. His stomach is in a mess and the vet thinks he has food allergies. He is currently on meds and a special veterinary food for allergies. We are hoping he will be one the mend shortly. The vet informed us that he will have to remain on the medication and special food for the rest of his life. Poor Jax underwent extensive testing, xrays, and exploratory surgery to find out why he could not eat or keep dry food down. He is feeling so much better now and happens to be the sweetest boy we have had in care for some time.

Jax1.jpg      Jax2.jpg      Jax3.jpg

Jax is very new to the rescue program and we will be learning where his housetraining skills are at.  He is a very friendly boy of approximately 2-3 years old and loves other dogs.  Jax foster mom says he is one awesome boy.  He gets along great with all other dogs and doesn't mind the kitties.  He loves people of all ages and has great manners.  He is housetrained and doesn't mind being crated but really doesn't require one.  He is fully vetted and waiting on his new home.

Special Needs

8-15-06  Update from the family:  I just wanted to give you and Amy (please pass along as I don't have her email at my work) an update on Zoe.  She is going to be a little girl weighing in at only 39 lbs.  She is wonderful, a little devil and
steals our hearts everyday.  Thank you both for letting her into our home.  She is a dream and everything she does is so cute even if it is bad.  She is house broken - she was going through a phase where she liked the inside better than the outside.  She sleeps with Mr. Gunnar every night - she started that when she was very young and can't be without him.  He on the other hand tolerates a lot.  I say it is his payback for picking on Mara and Haley when he was young.  She is just glued to Mr. Gunnar at the hip.  They play in the backyard all the time
- running and beating each other up. The backyard is wonderful as it is
fully shaded.  It is so wonderful to watch them play.  She has developed Mr. Gunnar's jumping ability - whenever they want to come in they bark and jump in front of the all glass back door.  Of course she can't jump as high as him (6 feet), but she sure does give it a good try.  She loves to see what is on the counter and if it isn't pushed back enough she gets it.  Oh ya, she is quite the little theft as well and the funny thing is that she knows exactly when she has done something wrong.  It also doesn't help that I have a square shaped donut house (shaped like a square donut with the centre being a courtyard) as she runs in circles and it is really hard to catch her.  When you think you have her she
turns around and goes the other way.  We had a stagette for a friend of mine on Sat night and Zoe took off with one of presents in her mouth. She was adorable!  Did I mention that she is quite a party girl.  She is in almost every stagette picture.  When I go for a walk I take her and Mr. Gunnar or Haley - they walk on a bridging link - she is doing quite well.  She knows a lot of hand signs, but tends to bark back at me (sasses me back) when I do the sign for no/bad.  She is quite the little devil.  I notice that one of the traits of a deaf dog is that she is a
little stand offish, not sure of what is going to happen, but she is coming along and becoming quite the snuggler.  And the kisses, well she just loves to give kisses.  And the bed, she just loves to sleep on our bed, but she does go to her kennel after a little snuggle time.  She also loves to push things with her front paws/legs.  May be it is to see if there is something under it as she does this to her pillow all the time.  Also, it is so cute in the morning when they all line up for
their treats.  It is so cute to see her sitting there being so patient waiting for her treat.  In the beginning she just grabbed at everyone I was giving out, but now she has accepted that she is the last one in line.

I would have attached some pictures, but I am at work and don't have any updated pictures with me, but when I get home I will send you some (I have copied this email to my home address).

As you can see we just love our little girl and she is quite the addition to our family.  I am taking her into the vet on Friday to get fixed.  I explained to them that I don't leave my dogs overnight so I have to be there bright and early so I can pick her up at 4 pm.

Well I just wanted to give you a brief update and to let you know how much we love our little Zoe.

I will be in touch shortly with pictures of our adorable little girl.

Bye for now,
Sandy

I will be 8 weeks old the end of February and will start looking for a new home to call my own.  I am a gorgeous little white female baby.  I am going to be learning many new things very soon like house training, crate training, and I will be attending a class designed to teach me some basic commands using sign language.  My new home will need to be willing to learn a few simple sign commands that I can understand.  It would be best for me to be placed with a hearing male dog, a privacy fence that I won't be able to get out of to make sure I stay safe.  If you are looking for a gorgeous little bundle of love and have the time and patience required, I just may be your girl.

Grace-Adopted

Grace1.jpg        Grace2.jpg

I am a very peppy senior girl of about 8+ years old.  I am fawn with natural ears and a docked tail.  I don't like cats and would do better as an only dog.  I walk very well on leash, am crate trained and house trained.  I just need a place to call home.  It's rough on a lady my age being bounced around, but I have held it together better than most.  My foster mom thinks I am very special and is very confident that there is someone out there looking for the perfect boxer, you see, that would be ME.  All my shots are complete,  I am spayed and anxious to find out where my forever home will be.  Don't pay attention to my age, I don't, and I seem to do quite well and you will to once you welcome me into your heart and home.

Adopted

Aggie - Special Needs-Adopted

Picture coming soon.

Aggie is Calli's daughter.  She is about 15 weeks old and is a beautiful fawn girlie.  She is working on her housetraining skills and crate training and is doing well with both.  Aggie has suffered spinal damage from a very bad fall.  She has seen an orthopedist and had numerous xrays taken.  They cannot fix the damage, but says she can have a life with lots of care in her activities.  She will have to have routine visits to the chiropractor for laser treatment for the next several months.  She has good days and bad days.  She will need a home that has very little excitement, no small children are recommended or other dogs for she will want to play.  She will need to be leash walked and controlled.  She cannot afford any normal boxer jumping, bouncing, and especially fighting of any kind including play, it could cause her to become paralyzed and ultimately euthanized.  We would like to give this little baby a chance for a good loving home since she has never had one.

If you would like to help with any of her medical expenses, PLEASE click on the PayPal link and donate or send to our address listed on our home page.  WE NEED YOUR HELP DESPERATELY!

Zeus

Zeus1.jpg         Zeus2.jpg

Zeus is a 5 yr. old fawn male boxer.  He is cropped and docked, has a reserved personality.  He was hit by a car and taken to the vet with a broken pelvis.  No one came forward to claim him.  The vets office fixed his pelvis and called rescue to see if we could help find him a good home once he heals.  Zeus walks very well on leash and has wonderful house manners.  He is very loving and gentle and wants only to please.

Update: Zeus' pelvis is fully healed and he has no complications from the accident.  If you are looking for a wonderful boy, he is it.  No other male dogs please for Zeus' new home

Special letter from the family:

> Subject: UPDATE ON CHLOE

Good morning, I wanted to give you an update on Chloe.. she is still wonderful!.. Her leg doesn't seem to bother her unless she is allowed to run outside for more than 15 minutes solid, or if it is rainy for a few days in a row.  It doesn't pop very often anymore either which is a good thing. The vet said we can either wait until it is a more constant pain or go ahead and to the surgery now while she is still young. I figure I'll make that decision when I get my bonus check in August. As soon as I get some pictures down loaded, I'll send you one of her in her sun glasses. We bought her a pair of dogles at Petsmart a few weeks ago and she absolutely loves them. She is so funny, she sits back in the car with the window down and really shows off at every stop light by looking over at the people in the cars. She knows she is a cool looking lady!!
Chloe has also become the babysitter at our house. Chelsey, the little maltese had a stroke about 6 weeks ago. Since that time she has really struggled with getting around as well as just knowing where she is at at any given moment. Chloe's helps her up on the couches by putting her nose under her and lifting her up. When I mow or go outside Chelsey is just in a panic and just paces around. Chloe will go get her in her mouth, haul her over to the sliding glass door and keep her cornered there until I pass by on the mower to let Chelsey know where I'm at.
It will make you cry to watch the two of them. Chloe is so gentle with her its like she knows Chelsey is old and sick.  Chloe chews on bones and then lets Chelsey have them once they are all slobbery.   If the poodle walks by though, Chloe will growl the growl of death and will not share her bones.
A few weekends ago we were at my parents house and dad dropped something out of the refrigerator which scared chelsey and she yelped. Chloe came through that house with her hair up all the way down her back ready to chew something up.. she sniffed all over chelsey to make sure she was okay, picked her up in her mouth and took her in and put her up on my Mom's bed.  Then laid in the floor beside the bed like she was watching over Chelsey.  It's absolutely amazing what has happened between these two dogs.  The vet suggested putting Chelsey to sleep initially after her stroke. But with medicine and the help of Chloe, it looks like we will be able to hang on to her a little while longer. Chloe is such a hug member of our family now, it's like she has always been with us. She goes everywhere with us and because she is so well behaved, even for her enormous size, she is welcomed by everyone.  I can't thank you enough for allowing us to adopt her.

 IMG_0941.JPG     IMG_0942.JPG

DaisyLou.jpg

Hello, I wanted to let you guys know she is just wonderful!  I could not ask for a better dog... You would think she has lived here all her life.  She slept right up against me last night and she had to have one paw up against my shoulder.  She seems to be protective of my other two little dogs. If the poodle barks in one room (as a yappy poodle does) Chloe comes a running to back her up in case there is trouble. Now the poodle does it for fun!  it's funny to watch them go through the house. The poodle has shown her all her most fun tricks, rubbing her face on the bottom of the couch after she eats, digging in the comforter on the floor while I'm making the bed.. my older little maltese just kind of follows them around.. it's so funny.. there goes the poodle, boxer on her heals, and itty bitty maltes bringing up the rear.
We went to see my vet today to take her papers in so they could get her file started etc.. plus I wanted to show her off.  He did give me some pain pills for her leg to see if that helps her a little.  Long term it will probably take a surgery, but that's okay. I'll gladly do it for her, she is such a wonderful addition to the family.
My dad was so against me getting a 'big' dog in the house.. didn't take Chloe but about 20 minutes last night and she had totally won him over.  He had her up on the couch laying there with him, rubbing her ears while she slept. He totally fell in love.
THANKS SO MUCH... what you ladies do is absolutely wonderful..
Leanna

Lori is a beautiful dark mahogany flashy girl of five.  She is housetrained, doesn't need crated, and is just wonderful.  She gets along well with other male dogs and enjoys a little play.  She does have mild arthritis in her back hips, so her play time is a little limited.  She loves to ride in cars and does very well.  She so wants her family to come along and give her the love and attention she needs.  Are you it.
